Η μοδα ερχεται στο Λονδινο! ... και εγω θα αναφερω τα παντα όπως έχω παρακολουθήσει κάθε μέρα στο London Fashion week.
Fashion month is now in full swing, with New York Fashion Week just finished and London Fashion Week just beginning. The fashion catwalk queens and the stars have begun their journey to the fashion capital London, to see designers of the likes of Mary Katrantzou, Burberry and Alexander McQueen.
Many people question why there is a fashion week in New York, London and Paris (and Milan) when it would simply be easier for all designers to gather in one country. The simple answer to this is that every brand has an aesthetic which doesn't always say match London or New York. A brand such as Chanel (which shows at Paris Fashion Week) known famously for its elegance and French style stands in stark contrast to the grunge aesthetic of Alexander Wang (shows at New York Fashion Week).
New York Fashion Week sees designers of the likes of Calvin Klein, Michael Kors and Tommy Hilfiger, all designers that are in a way 'practical' in their designs and represent a more realistic way of dressing. In comparison London fashion week is more experimental and shows a more artistic way of dressing. This is possibly because many of the designers who show in London, studied at prestigious art school UAL (including Central Saint Martin's) where they teach their students to take risks in their creations.
Anna Wintour the editor of American Vogue stated her disappointment in what she saw in New York. She stated that designers aren't taking enough risks and the ones that were, were the ones that stood out.
Fashion Week is a time where designers can show their artistic skills and creativity in eccentric designs, which are not always practical.
But at least Marc Jacobs knows what they are doing..... just before we gave up on the boring and monotonous shows of NYFW.

But whilst the fashion on the catwalk was not up to scratch, the street style was another thing all together. A prevailing sense that we got from New York is that oversized fur coats are still very much the hottest thing right now. (Photographs from Vogue.com)
Having attended the first day of London Fashion week... the street style dominated with many taking fashion risks.

And whilst fashion dominated on the street a new found excitement for fashion was seen on the catwalk. From designers ranging from Julien MacDonald, Gareth Pugh and House of Holland each fashion house stood out in their own unique way.
Whilst shape played a profound role at the J.W Anderson show, mixing styles from the 70's and 20's was the main inspiration for the House of Holland A/W collection.
After New York Fashion Week, what we have seen already in London has re-established our faith in fashion.
